The Medium is the Massage

Pages 18-25

~ Touching upon the ways in which education affects the world today, the author addresses the difference of electric information with in a home environment and that of a modern day classroom. While the atmosphere of a home includes the information brought by a television, the setting of a classroom introduces the ideas of patterns, subjects, schedules etc. The image displayed beside the text seems to present that idea of organized arrangement, showing a specific device used to reach a task wanting to be accomplished.

~ With the advancement of technology though how important is an individual once a machine can replace the job that they do? The duplicated photographs on page 21 of a single man seems to symbolize the lack of individuality a person holds when it comes to particular jobs. Although not all jobs can be replaced by technology due to the call for different demands, in time to come will that still stand?

~ Techniques of the past are far too tedious for current day approaches. While governing populations had been straight forward, influencing people is no longer the way it used to be. Everyday events alter the mindsets of individuals changing people’s outlooks constantly, resulting in listening those that used to be unheard. On page 25 it states, “there is absolutely no inevitability as long as there is a willingness to contemplate what is happening”, meaning that if one is considering something there is no way they can ignore or disregard what they are thinking.
